Janina Stajic (Manager)
|
Chamber manager Janina Stajic devotes much of her time to managing the chamber and its directors. Janina brings a helpful blend of experience to her position working with the Chamber's board of directors. Janina is a freelance writer and a community activist, and has been an operations director for an international adventure travel business, a marketing assistant, and a volunteer in several organizations. Janina is a certified yoga instructor, and has volunteered her time teaching yoga to members of low-income families. If you don't find Janina at the Chamber office, it likely means she is at home with her family, or engaging in her other interests (singing, reading, volunteering and biking).

Bill Pope (President)

Bill brings more than twenty-five years of experience as a lawyer, and several years of experience as an executive and member of the Dawson Creek Chamber of Commerce, to his duties as a director of the Gabriola Chamber. Bill currently divides his time between his law office and the software business he owns with his wife, Pat. When not busy practising law or helping other lawyers with their law office management software opportunities, Bill finds time to try do develop a small amount of competence in his other interests, including photography, banjo music, tai chi, gardening and meditation.

Jacoline Homych (Secretary)

Landowner on Gabriola since 2004, Jacoline Homych has been busy creating the lifestyle that brought her, husband Lance and pupply Kayle from Port Coquitlam, B.C. to Gabriola, where they vacationed regularly for about 30 years.
Using their combined talents and experience in renovation and design, they envisioned Cliff Cottage perched on a view bluff. The Homych's assembled a dedicated team of local trades people to assist them in creating a quality, functional and esthetically pleasing home.
Jacoline, an interior decorator of 20 years, works with clients to determine the colours and materials required to create the impact and comfort they're looking for in their homes. Many homeowners on Gabriola have availed themselves of the talents of this dynamic duo to revision their homes using tiling, hardwood, paint, carpentry, draperies and blinds.
Currently Jacoline serves the Gabriola Chamber as Secretary and is participating with her usual zeal and enthusiasm.
Jacoline enjoys music, theatre, traveling the world and savouring the time at Cliff Cottage, taking in the ever-changing ambience.

Cindy Pellant (Treasurer)

After 20 years in the travel industry (both retail and wholesale), 3 years at a yacht brokerage firm, and 11 years as Office Manager at Hambleton Fine Art Services, Cindy Pellant and her husband Dodd, bought their lovely ocean front home on Gabriola Island, and opened Spring Beach House B&B in May of 2005. Although she is kept very busy in her new career, she does find time to act as Secretary of the Gabriola Chamber of Commerce, and is involved with the Gabriola Players, and is a member of the Gabriola Yacht Club.

When John is not helping people as Gabriola's only licensed mortgage broker, he is very busy with his other interests, which include camping, skiing and hiking. John has been an active member of both the Nanaimo and Gabriola communities since arriving in the area with his family in 1988. He has served on the boards of Alliance Nanaimo, Habitat Nanaimo, the Gabriola Rate Payers Society, People for a Healthy Community, and the First Night Society; John currently sits on the board of the Old City Quarter in Nanaimo, and the Haven Society's corporate fund raising committee, as well as the Gabriola Island Chamber of Commerce. John chaired the Habitat for Humanity Committee, which established the first Vancouver Island Habitat Restore.

Carol is actively involved in arts, culture and entertainment activities on Gabriola, while also working for Gabriola's Sounder newspaper.

Greg Cornforth (Director)

Greg Cornforth is a small business owner and four year resident of Gabriola. He and his wife Elaine own two offices of LogoMotion Promotional Products, one in Saskatoon and one in Nanaimo and a small office on Gabriola. We provide premium Promotional Products to the business community that will compliment professionalism.

Linda Olsen (Director)

Linda came to Gabriola in 1987 from Edmonton after retiring as an office manager. She received a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Alberta. She has three grown children. Linda is President-Elect of the Gabriola Lions Club and a member of the local Garden Club. She belongs to the choir "EveryBody Sings" in Lantzville.
Linda's "Island Bed and Breakfast" is wheelchair accessible. Linda also offers services as "Lady Wordsmith", doing writing, editing and proofreading.
