Most homes on Gabriola are on lots of a half-acre to five acres or more. There is no municipal water or sewer system on Gabriola, so you will find that most homes have wells and septic fields. Gabriola is serviced with normal telephone, power and cable (TV and high-speed internet) services. Don't expect to find big-box stores on Gabriola. Also, don't expect to find fast-food chains: the service in our local restaurants is very good, but you should be prepared to relax while you eat your meal or drink your tea or coffee.

Medical Services

A note about medical services... Gabriola has the benefit of a volunteer fire department, an RCMP detachment, and local medical professionals, including a full-time ambulance service. Gabriola does have emergency medical facilities, which have already proven very valuable. Serious injuries require transportation to Nanaimo''s Regional Hospital.
