Sixty years ago, the US TV program Studio One presented an original drama, set in a jury room. The jurors were deciding the guilt or innocence of a teen-aged boy charged with murdering his father by stabbing him in the heart. On their first vote, the jurors voted 11-1 to convict the boy. In the ensuing discussions—which eventually led to a Unanimous verdict—each of the 12 jurors felt many different emotions. One emotion was common to them all, before they finished their work.
