Jane & Roger arrived in the summer of 1974 after friends told them Gabriola was one of the most creative places they had ever seen and it has proven to be so much more. Jane loves the interplay of light and colour in working with glass. Her windows cover a range of styles as she pushes the limits by incorporating sandblasting, fused glass and found objects into her designs. Roger’s background as a machinist turns blacksmithing into functional works of art. His gates, hinges and hardware show this. But his quirky nature surfaces in the unusual creatures that adorn the yard and shop. Come share some fun.

Anita arrived on Canada’s West Coast in the fall of 1994, after sailing from Germany in 1993. In the spring of 1995 she brought out her first collection of fine leather bags. Over the following years Indian Summer Leather Design has built a solid reputation for strikingly unusual but functional design and excellent quality. Anita studied fashion design at the well known Fachhochschule fuer Gestaltung in Pforzheim, Germany. Later she apprenticed with a designer in Berlin for high-end leather apparel. While all the other “famous” designers seem to be trampling one another on well worn and crowded paths, Indian Summer Leather Design has developed their own look, combining a European sense of design with West Coast sensibility and a very German penchant for solid quality. Currently they design and handcraft their quality leather bags and accessories in their studio on beautiful Gabriola Island. They are committed to offering the highest possible standards in design and craftmanship and guarantee all their work. Gabriola's Newest Studio NOW OPEN

Don't miss Sheila's OPEN HOUSE, December 12th from 11-5 pm at 2531 Tyee Drive.
Sheila Norgate is an inter-disciplinary artist which just means she does a lot of different things, sometimes at the same time, although not necessarily. She is a painting, writing, dog-crazy feminist who sometimes worries whether there will be enough room left in her life for all the passions she wishes to entertain. As a painter, she is represented in fine galleries across Canada and the Southwestern US and her work is collected internationally. Norgate makes her home on Gabriola where she practices letting herself go.
