The Art and Science of Respiration with Elfi Shaw.
Humans can live without food or water for days or hours but only minutes without breath. From the first inhale to the last exhale Breath moves through us carrying the Gift of Life. Most of the time we remain unaware of our respiration until we exert ourselves or experience difficulty breathing through illness. Many ancient wisdom traditions taught the language of breath to promote health and vitality and increase sensory awareness of daily experiencing.
Join Elfi Dillon Shaw RMT for a breathing journey in body, heart and mind.
Elfi is one of The Haven’s faculty members and an RMT on Gabriola Island.
Tickets: $15 | Available at North Road Sports and online |
Gabriola Players is thrilled to be staging PSYCHOPATHIA SEXUALIS by award winning playwright John Patrick Shanley (author of “Doubt” and “Moonstruck”).
Synopsis: Howard and Arthur are friends — well, they’ve known each other a long time, and they think they might be friends. Arthur announces he wants to get married, but he has a problem: a secret fetish. And the psychiatrist he’s been seeing admits openly he’s “a quack”! As Arthur’s friends and fiancee try to extricate him from this dilemma, there are lots of laughs, but also some telling insights into human strengths and frailties. Don’t miss this engrossing presentation!
There will be four performances of this urbane comedy of errors at the Rollo Centre:
- Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 21 to 23 at 7pm.
– Sunday, June 24 at 2pm
According to the Los Angeles Times, “John Patrick Shanley’s PSYCHOPATHIA SEXUALIS is a smart new comedy about men and their befuddlements and a shrink who may just be the personification of evil. The play is perfectly poised between daffy comedy and believable human neurosis which Shanley combines so well that although you never know what wacky thing is coming next, you believe it when it comes.”
Tickets: $15 Adults $10 Seniors/Students | Available at North Road Sports and at the door |
