WORKSHOP: Intentional Aging
Jan 23 @ 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
WORKSHOP: Intentional Aging

FREE Workshop | 8 weeks | Tuesdays, January 16 to March 6 | Pre-registration Required |

Exploring the Path from Senior to Elder:

  • What does it mean to be an elder today?
  • As elders, what can we offer our community?
  • How do we want to be remembered?

A new session of this popular arts-based program will be starting again in January.

Using the storying and experiential tools of Narrative and Drama Therapy we will explore aging, death, and dying; creating a legacy; and taking one’s place a s elders in our community.

Offered by Kayte Summers, Registered Drama Therapist and Maggie Mooney, Registered Clinical Counsellor

The big takeaway from this group experience has been a better understanding of myself accompanied by a bit of a boost to my self-confidence. I found the action of creating the life tree to be very enriching and I cherish it … I also have a better sense of completion around certain aspects of my life that we worked on, as well as some that we didn’t. I do see myself in a more positive light and view my age as the asset that it is.  — participant in Intentional Aging

Participation is free and open to all Gabriolans.
Program starts Tuesday, January 16th and runs for 8 sessions
10 am to 12:30 pm at the Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre (476 South Road)

For more information or to register:
Maggie at 250-325-4212 or mmooneyrcc@gmail.com
Kayte at 250-247-9798 or kaytesummers@telus.net

There is no charge for this program. Donations are gratefully accepted.

The group expressed appreciation for the community we were creating together. The process enabled participants to feel their losses and the inevitable hurts of their life journeys while holding a sense of appreciation and celebration for their learnings. We were all vulnerable in each others presence. This created a circle of supportive connection.  —Intentional Aging Facilitators
