For the fourth year, we invite spiritual seekers to deepen their understanding of Buddhism and meditation practice with the teachings and retreat with Lama Losang Samten.
Venerable Lama Losang Samten is the Spiritual Director of several Buddhist centres in North America with his home base in Philadelphia.
In 1988 Losang was instructed by HH the 14th Dalai Lama to travel to the US to create the meditative art of sand painting. He has since travelled and taught extensively sharing his knowledge of Buddhist philosophy and meditation. Mandalas are used to enhance spiritual practice through imagery and meditation to heal body, spirit and mind.
His education includes degrees from the Namgyal Monastery, the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, honorary degrees from Trinity College, Hartford, Maine College of Art. He taught at University of Pennsylvania and is a recipient of a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts.
Losang was on Gabriola to create the Blue Medicine Buddha Mandala in 2015. In successive years he focused on the Green Tara practice and this year we will be lead through teachings to deepen our meditation practice culminating in a ritual for self healing. Losang is a warm hearted, compassionate teacher who delights those new to the teachings as well as seasoned practitioners. Please see his website Losangsamten for his many contributions and accomplishments.
