Prior to the AGM of GaLTT, Nancy J. Turner, Emeritus Professor, U of Victoria, Environmental Studies will be speaking about Traditional Land and Resource Management on the BC Coast.

Dr. Turner’s perspective integrates the fields of botany and ecology with those of anthropology, geography and linguistics. She will discuss the traditional knowledge and land and resource management systems of Indigenous Peoples.

As an ethnobotanist she is active in the analysis of the role of ethno-ecology in policy, planning and decision-making around Indigenous Peoples’ rights and titles. Her address is being tailored to complement the Gabriola Island series of events on the broad topic of from truth to reconciliation.

Admission is free but a contribution at the door would help GaLLT cover the costs of hosting this event.
