FREE Event | Everyone Welcome!

from Whalebone Drive to the Golf Club ( about 13.5 km)
This year we have a lovely, interesting new route up and across the middle of the island instead of from end to end. We will walk entirely on public trails apart from a brief stretch up Degnen Road North. We’ll pass through beautiful forested Government lands as well as Elder Cedar Nature Reserve, and make a large loop through 707 including the new southern portion taking us to the Golf Club for refreshments.
PLEASE CARPOOL TO THE STARTING POINT and arrange for pickup at the Golf Club.
Bring water and a lunch snack if you’re walking the whole route.
If you can’t do it all, you can leave or join the walk at Tait Rd or at the end of Jeanette Ave.
(Or you can just meet us afterwards at the Golf Club.)
10am  Leave the end of Whalebone Dr. at Joyce Lockwood Park
[Walk east thru’ oceanside forest then up the hill to Elder Cedar; up Degnen Rd N and thru’ more government land trails to Tait Rd]
11.45-ish  Arrive at Tait Rd near North Rd (~6km) for lunch break.
12.15 Leave Tait Rd
[Trail walk parallel to North Rd across Elgie Rd and onward to the north loop of 707]
1.30  Arrive at the end of Jeanette Ave. (~10km from start)
1.45  Leave Jeanette Ave.
[Zigzag thru’ “old” 707, then walk south and southwest on newly acquired public trails]
3pm  Arrive Golf Course for refreshments (~13.5 km from start)
