Gabriola Champions through Grief
Meets monthly on Gabriola. The group will provide an informal and relaxed setting where people can connect with others experiencing grief. Support is both given and received. Hospice volunteers, Janice Power and Liz McKnight, will guide the discussion, based on the needs of those in attendance. Gabriola Emergency Social Services (GESS)
GESS provides, preparedness in the event of a disaster where the next 72 hours counts. We offer training, neighbourhood preparedness, PALS for the pets and livestock, emergency kits, general knowledge of self-sustainable what to do in case of emergencies where we could be cut off from Nanaimo, or even our own community in case of fire, flood, earthquakes, disease.
Brochures with contact info, etc. are available at the Visitor Centre on Gabriola. Included is info on how to prepare, what to pack, how to plan for your pet, how to work with your neighbours, designated reception centres and contact info.
